Austin was born with a very rare anomaly known as congenital fibular hemimelia, which is the absence of the fibula, causing serious problems with the development of his left leg.  Chicago has some of the finest doctors, but none of which have the ability to lengthen his tibia to the extent needed.  His only option from these doctors is amputation.  He's been out to see the nation's leading doctor in limb lengthening and deformity reconstruction at the International Center for Limb Lengthening in Baltimore, MD.  Dr. Dror Paley will be able to lengthen and straighten his tibia, reconstruct his ankle, and save his limb.
